What happens when you choose to delete the entire series? Is there any error message? Normally, this process should work without issues.

I manage to delete the recurring event but not the whole series and I don't get any error message and what I delete directly or open the event

When you attempt to delete an event that belongs to a series a dialog window appears asking whether you would like to remove just this particular event, this event and all future events or the entire series. Isn't that what you see?

In this case, the entire series of events should be deleted. If that’s not what’s happening in your situation, try creating a new test recurring event and see if you can reproduce the issue with it.

but what about the elders?

You can switch to the Agenda view, ensure that there is no date range filtering active, select the events you no longer want and delete them. I hope this helps resolve the situation.

I apparently found the solution:
in users/"my laptop"/AppData/Roaming/EssentialPIM Pro I found several .back files that I deleted

Unfortunately, false hopes, deleting the .bak files did not resolve the problem.
I will continue to search on my own
