EPIM purchase and subscription plkans

As an EPIM user for a long time myself (almost 20 years now), I recently recommended EPIM to a friend of mine.
As he's interested in either purchasing or subscribing, I recommended to buy the product: the plan I once chose, involved a one-time fee, for a perpetual license, and, of course, unlimited updates.

To my surprise, I discovered that the plans apparently have been changed.

Do I interpret correctly, that who chooses to purchase a licence now, enjoys, and i quote "Pay once, use forever. Includes 1 year of free updates",
which means at the price of €85,-, the product may be used forever, but may not be usable forever, without paying another € 39,- per year for updates, while subscribing without purchasing is just 6 euros per year more expensive?

Buy once, after that you will get updates for 1 year. After that, you can continue to use it indefinitely without further updates - at the same version level.

For permanent updates, the subscription is required.

With EPIM 26, the licensing model has changed. The old licenses, it is said, will continue as before and are not affected

For me, as I am an early adopter of the app, and very satisfied with the quality of it, the price of either model (purchase or subscription) is absolutely wirth the investment, hands down!
I'm not so sure however, if the new price plan is temptative for that friend of mine, though.
His worry is, that being allowed to use an app forever, only has value if the app also is usable forever, which on it's turn may depend on it being maintained. But we'll see!
I hope that friend of mine decides in favour of purchasing/subscribing.

I think your friend doesn't have to worry. I've seen posts in the forum from users who have not upgraded and EPIM continues to work. The version they're using has the features they need, and they're content. The risk is that prior versions are not maintained, but they do continue to work.

Zoals men aangeeft, je krijgt geen updates en nieuwe functies nadat de termijn van de updates verloopt.
Dus als je irritante problemen tegenkomt na een jaar, dan blijven die in het programma.
Maar de versie die je gebruikt en de database kan je gewoon onbeperkt blijven gebruiken.

Alternatief, maar dan verlies je functionaliteit is nadien alsnog overschakelen naar de FREE versie.
Die heet tegenwoordig wel EPIM mail, maar heeft ook gewoon de notitities, taken en agenda. Alleen volgens mij geen wachtwoorden module.
De FREE versie wordt wel altijd bijgewerkt, krijgt updates enz.

Beste Peter, dank voor je suggestie!
Mogelijk is dit inderdaad een werkbaar alternatief voor de vriend die ik EPIM adviseerde, ALS hij opziet tegen de kosten voor aankoop van licentie plus updates, of gewoon het abonnement.
De kwaliteit van de app kennende, zou ik het er zonder meer voor over hebben.
Jouw advies kan een goede middenweg zijn: koop de licentie, maar koop de updates alleen indien echt nodig....dat kan werken.
