BUG (got workaround): new 26.01, Appointments: duration not preserved

Post by Trinitylab »

Hi,

Please revert to the old, logic behaviour:
default and any appointment with the set duration should retain it as preserved.

Why 'preserved as default':

there is 0-1 choice here to be made by devs.
More logic and more probable user's preference is that the duration of a meeting/ appointment stays the same.

People in business more often know how long time interval they should book in their agendas than they don't. Once the duration has been set it rarely changes. I have had thousands of meetings, in-person and online with people from nearly all sorts of businesses (except porn and drugs :))), and from dozens countries, the length of the meeting was changed by a client maybe twice.

Will be grateful if this comes back to the old behaviour.

Cheers,
Piotr

Let me add:

old appointments, already set in the calendar, also after the update lost this setting "preserved". Now are "not preserved".

Workaround:

I needed to change one of the appointments, and set duration as preserved, now all of them regained this setting.
Anyway, the setting for a given appointment should be preserved as set by a user.

This is by design. The option remembers the last used setting and applies it when creating new events.

Thanks for the reply, looks like it doesn't work that way:

it's not about new ones, it's about old ones too:
once i set "preserved/not" in any appointment also any old one, all of the appointments in calendar, already set, have this new setting, according to my latest action.
This is a bug.

As I understand the logic with a new one "as the last one created", it's OK, it cannot be considered as a working solution changing all of the appointments in calendar "as the last one changed".

The behavior you're describing is expected and by design. The option does not apply per individual appointment. So there is no distinction between "new" and "existing" appointments in this case.

Thank you for the info.
So this is not the best solution: I change one particular appointment (preserved/ not), and all the appointments in the calendar reflect that change.
Anyway, good it's been clarified.
