Clear sync to cloud instructions
I've been synchronizing between my phone, tablet and windows computer locally. I've found EPIM works much better if I shut it down at night and then restart the next day, so I can't sync at night. I thought I'd try cloud sync. But, I cannot figure out how to set it up. I purchased a cloud account, but it seemed to want to access my email. It gave an access violation because 2025120t000000 already exists. I the online documentation is reasonable, but nothing at all like what I faced when I logged into my newly created account.
When I tried to add epim cloud to my sync on my desktop, the option no longer appears.
Is there a clear explanation, step by step of how one creates an account and sets up sync between windows desktop (main computer), and Android devices or even the cloud? When I tried, I didn't think I was even in the correct service, so cancelled the acccount.

Re: Clear sync to cloud instructions
Please review the EPIM Cloud setup and sync instructions in the documentation here: https://www.essentialpim.com/help/epim_cloud.htm. If you still have any questions afterward, just let us know.

Re: Clear sync to cloud instructions
Yes, that is exactly what didn't work or look like anything I saw and eventually forced me to restart my computer entirely.
I've decided that since EPIM seems to create errors if I don't restart it, I should just do that. I've decided that instead of closing it every night, I'll close it and then re-open it. Then I'll be able to sync some new task if I think of it in the evening (Home Office).

Were there any specific errors during sync? If so, we can take a look.

I didn't handle the logs, because I was forced to restart the computer to regain control. Here's the error that was posted.
It is possible that hidden behind things was the same thing and it ran twice. But, alt-tab didn't allow me to switch.

Re: Clear sync to cloud instructions
We'll need to see a log file to better understand the cause of the issue. Could you please forward it to me via PM?

I'm surprised, I thought they'd be gone, but they are there. After I put in my username and password, it locked up and didn't finish. I'll PM the three files.

Re: Clear sync to cloud instructions
Thanks. The issue here is that there's already an exception in the recurring event scheduled for 2025‑01‑20 and EPIM cannot add another one. You can try resetting the sync info by going to File -> Database Management, selecting EPIM Cloud under the Clear Synchronization Data section and clicking the Clear button. If that doesn't help, try deleting the recurring event that has an occurrence scheduled for 20250120.

Re: Clear sync to cloud instructions
I just don't understand at all. On April 2 2026 I sign up for a cloud account. I try and sync. and it fails because there was an exception 15 months before I signed up for the account and it was recurring. that is confusing. Anyway, I gave up. The method of restarting every evening seems to work fine. EPIM closes and opens quickly enough and I can add tasks in the evening from my tablet (home office). Where would I find this recurring event? Are we talking Windows scheduler?

We're talking about the calendar in EPIM.

Re: Clear sync to cloud instructions
OK. I understand now. epim syncs the calendar fine with local sync, but fails with cloud sync because of a problem with a recurring event on Jan 20 2025. I checked that date, and have 3 items. 2 of which are recurring and 1 of which gets done every month and is marked completed. the other recurring event is an annual event I like to remember. The third calendar event is a followup to an email. You are suggesting that it is possible that if I delete the two recurring events and then re-create them starting next month or Jan 20 2027, then that might have been what was needed to resolve the Cloud sync failure.

Re: Clear sync to cloud instructions
That or as mentioned in the post above, you may want to try clearing the sync data. That could help, as well.
