when EPIM says that the database needs to be checked, please allow it to do so. It might take several hours- that's fine.
Regarding out of memory error- please reboot your computer (just to make sure RAM is cleared). If the error re-appears, we would need to have a look at your database ...

If you are using IMAP account, there is no need to move mail accounts between databases, as mail is stored on server and can be downloaded fully into any new database.
If you are using POP3 account, EPIM Archiver is a good solution- it always works with latest version of course. We have no intention ...
