We're excited to let you know that EPIM is taking a big step forward. Astonsoft Ltd. (the company behind the original development of EPIM) and /n software, Inc. (a leading provider of enterprise-grade software components and development technologies) have joined forces to create a new company: EPIM Technologies, Inc. This step marks the beginning of a new phase in the development of EPIM, bringing additional resources and long-term opportunities.

Before we talk about anything else, we'd like to clearly emphasize what matters most to our users:

  • EPIM remains the same product you trust
  • The core team behind EPIM stays unchanged
  • The EPIM products (Pro and Mail) continue evolving as before
  • Our commitment to privacy, reliability and user control remains at the heart of everything we do

So, why are we doing this? Building and maintaining EPIM takes a massive amount of work and this change is designed to strengthen EPIM, not alter its direction. By combining Astonsoft's deep product expertise with /n software's investment and technological capabilities, we're going to be able to speed up our development cycle. You can expect to see new features, better stability and deeper cloud integrations coming your way without compromising the principles EPIM is built on.

Thank you for trusting us and staying with EPIM over the years. We can't wait to show you what we build next.

Reviews & Comments

Hi,
Great news and Congratulations
with this big step!
One question, how about development of Android Epim?

Regards,
Edwin
Thank you, Edwin! Android EPIM is currently under consideration and going through a phase of re-evaluation. We're looking at the best way to approach it in terms of technology, user experience and ecosystem integration. We'll definitely share updates as soon as there's something specific to announce.
bonne nouvelle, bonne continuation
Thank you! We appreciate your support.
Probably AI, telemetry, Big-Brother
Not good !
Probably not :) We have no plans to introduce anything like that.
Thank you for your continuing commitment to improve this wonderful software, which I rely on every day!
Thank you, Robert, we really appreciate your support!
Exciting news! Best wishes on the new venture.

1. I hope this does *not* mean that EPIM will become a subscription-only service.
2. Perhaps we'll see a MacOS/iOS version? I would pay for that!
Especially since I have a lifetime license.
Perry, no worries, all existing lifetime licenses will continue to work exactly as before.
Grafton, thank you! While we introduced the new subscription option with the release of EPIM 26, it's not mandatory and we do plan to keep the traditional licensing model available, as well.

As for versions for other platforms - it’s a bit early to share specifics but expanding EPIM in that direction is definitely something we'd like to explore.
From a privacy point of view I would really appreciate a better integration with the Proton apps, plus a better Android app that can handle the notes functionality much better.
Thank you for the suggestions! We'll take them into account as we move forward with EPIM's development.
I am concerned that perpetual licenses will be axed.

I have stopped upgrading to the next new version because past history has proven to me that new version have bugs sometimes frustrating ones. Will this mean the more testing will be done before new versions are released?
Seems /n software allows perpetual licenses for their software, but one has to purchase maintenance subscription for future upgrades and support. Sigh looks like the writing may be on the wall for EPIM lifetime licenses and free upgrades.
As mentioned in one of the comments above, all existing lifetime licenses will continue to work as before. The regular (non-subscription) license, which is currently available alongside the subscription option, allows you to use the purchased version perpetually and includes one year of free updates (which can always be extended). Each license also comes with lifetime priority support.

As for possible issues right after major releases, this is something very much on our radar.
EPIM has been my personal organizer since 2019 and I have seen it evolve towards better. I wish you the best with this new venture and hope to see an email client for mobile devices pretty soon.

Cheers !
Thank you for your feedback and for being with EPIM for many years, it means a lot to us. As for a mobile email client, that's definitely something we'll look into.
I wonder why I'm not seeing any responses to the "subscription service / perpetual license" concerns voice above? This almost certainly means both those things are in the works. If that does happen it would be very unfortunate and they will definitely lose me as a customer and my guess is a large portion of their base as well. There are plenty of other free personal information managers out there. I'll probably develop my own if it does happen.

Hopefully this won't happen but it seems odds are high that it will.
We've actually addressed this in a couple of comments above but just to reiterate: all existing lifetime licenses will continue to function as before.
I'd like to clarify your plans for using AI. The first thing I'd ask it to do is figure out how to delete duplicate records directly, without any hacks.
That's something you don't need AI for :) We have a dedicated tool for handling duplicate records (EPIM DupRemover), please feel free to check it out: https://www.epim.com/features/free-epim-utilities/epim-archiver-dupremover
Hmm, I see nobody expressing worries regarding the fact that EPIM now becomes a product of a formally US Based company. That has all sorts of consequences and may be reason for many users to move to other, non US based, software.
Please comment!
Nothing changes in how EPIM works from a privacy perspective. It remains a user-controlled, primarily local application and we are not changing our approach to privacy or data ownership.

Users remain fully in control of their data, just as before.
Hopefully we will see more development in the mobile apps - this is an area that has been neglected over the last few years
That's a fair point. It's definitely an area we're looking to improve and something we'll be focusing more on going forward.
